Application Guidelines for Trainees
- Before you complete the online application below , make sure you are familiar with materials required to complete the application form provided in the application material section. We do ask that you put some effort to answer the questions based on the sample materials provided as all applications will be reviewed based on these sample materials.
- If certain sections of the application form are incomplete, you will not be allowed to submit the application ,unless you provide all required materials in the section. For sections that require long-texts , you may prepare the texts outside the application form using the WORD processing package, and simply paste the materials into the application form.
- Social Enterprise Idea Identification: SWEET Africa is aware that identifying an opportunity among the many Africa development problems is a challenge many aspiring and eager learners may not take on alone. Several obstacles may stand in the way including lack of Experience, Guidance, Statistics, and where available, lack of skills to repackage the Statistics into a compelling problem statement, together with a corresponding social enterprise to purse.
- Therefore, SWEET Africa hereby commits itself to assist aspiring learners free-of-charge to overcome the problem of idea identification before they submit their application for learning under the SWEET Africa . As an aspiring learner , before you submit your application for learning, SWEET Africa requests that you take a moment and review the resources provided below. SWEET Africa is confident that following your thorough review and internalization of all these guiding resource below, you will be a‐ready‐made SWEET Africa student with a Resource Winning and Society Profiting business idea,simply requiring a‐state‐of‐art polishing expected to occur during the learning under SWEET Africa . All aspiring learners are therefore, requested that prior to their application submission, they should make use of these SWEET Africa Expert ideas here.
- Further more, learners are advised to arouse the attention of thier idea to funding sources using both local and national updated , and credible compelling Statistics as well as the Global Sustainable Development Goals Baseline Statistics(2015) here.
- Completing the Online Application: Please note that you need to fill out the Online-application form only once. SWEET Africa has prepared an application template for you to complete off line and later paste your content into the Online system . - Scholarship: If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please simply indicate in the idea section of the application whether your idea qualifies to be considered under “the One US dollar Social Enterprise for Empowering and Development (SEED) Innovation" scholarship .Ten(10) full scholarships are available for grabs. All other application requirements and conditions apply under SEED Innovation scholarship application..
- Slots for enrollment: Please note there is a specified number of slots for each enrollment cycle, and therefore we operate on a "first come, first serve" basis . Your application will reviewed on the basis of the information you will provide, and not on any other information . Please also note that all information provided in the application form will be held strictly confidential by the SWEET Africa management.
Application Guidelines for local facilitators
- For learners without the basic learning aid tools, SWEET Africa advises that you organize yourselves into a group of 30 learners or more to identify a resourceful SWEET Africa CAFE local facilitator to provide learning aid assistance limited to: (1) your off line learning(including material download), (2) note taking, (3) typing and (4) e-mail assignment submission facilitation.
- Please note the SWEET Africa course materials are self-contained with all required learning assistance solicited directly from the SWEET Africa Tutors, thus requiring no local facilitator function/role in tutoring.
- Your group self-identified and mutually agreed-upon facilitator must have the basic learning aid support facilitates (Either Computers, Laptops, or Ipads, or Tablets, plus a router, printer, scanner plus reliable and backup power) to facilitate learning for 30 learners or more
- Your group self-identified facilitator must be a legal person capable of entering into contract (School, Church, NGO, CBO , Business Internet café etc), and recognized at community level
- Your group self-identified facilitator must have the support supervision staff to enhance on-site computer skills of your group learners, and also spacious enough to facilitate off-line reading, note taking, and typing for 30 learners or more for 3 hours per day, two days in a week for 12 weeks and able to provide INTERNET access to facilitate learner submission of assignments.
- The SWEET Africa will pay your group self-identified facilitator US$12 for each learner's off-line reading, note taking, typing and assignment for 3 hours per day-for two days per week for the entire 12 weeks learning cycle so long as the learners supported by the facilitator total 30 or more . - Local Charities/Service providers(Schools, Churches, NGOs, CBOs , Business INTERNET cafés etc) can therefore mobilize learners for the SWEET Africa Cafe course. Learners can also mobilize and facilitator fellow learners for the SWEET Africa Cafe course, so long as they can fulfill all the above conditions .
- The application forms for learners and facilitators are completely different as indicated in the application submission sections below. For those applying as learners ,please indicate in your application whether you will need the services of local SWEET Africa facilitator, and whether you have identified the facilitator as a group, or you have been identified by a local SWEET Africa facilitator indicating the name of the facilitator as well. For those applying as SWEET Africa CAFE facilitators , please indicate the number of learners identified/mobilized including their names, and other required identifying information in order to facilitate tallying with the learner application information provided.
